Watch out there is a new sex workers rights group in Canada! Membership is open to individuals of all genders who self-identify as former or current sex workers, regardless of the industry sector in which they work ed i. We envision a society in which sex workers are able to practice their professions free of legal and social discrimination, victimization, harassment and violence and in which sex work is valued as legitimate and fulfilling work making an important contribution to society. The event is intended to denounce the indecent nature of the Legislative Acts that regulate sex work and sex workers. We maintain that the laws are indecent because they are moralistic, discriminatory, increase the danger and stigma experienced by us in our work lives and inhibit our full participation in Canadian life. We also maintain that the laws are detrimental to communities.

Ottawa City has a good sex scene keeping its million residents entertained and includes licensed body rub parlours, plenty of night clubs and bars, plus strip clubs and — not to mention — hundreds of working girls. Because most hookers now have access to free WiFi and cheap cell phones, most business is conducted using online advertising through the personals and classifieds.

Current laws on sex work , introduced by the Conservative government in , make it illegal to purchase or advertise sexual services and illegal to live on the material benefits from sex work. Although it is legal to sell sexual services, in some cases it is illegal to solicit in public areas. It is the first time in Canadian history that the exchange of sexual services for money is made illegal. The Canadian Department of Justice , claims that the new legal framework "reflects a significant paradigm shift away from the treatment of prostitution as 'nuisance', as found by the Supreme Court of Canada in Bedford , toward treatment of prostitution as a form of sexual exploitation that disproportionately and negatively impacts on women and girls".
